The Highlight of Your Family’s Weekend
A Tour of Marietta
When you think of local points of interest, a water park may not be the first facility to come to mind. But a major attraction that draws on average over 500,000 visitors per year is nothing to ignore, and that’s why Six Flags White Water, located right here in Marietta, is a destination to put on your family’s to-do list.
Six Flags White Water is the sister amusement park of Six Flags Over Georgia. It first opened in 1984 as White Water Atlanta and was sold to the owners of Six Flags in 1999 to become one of just four standalone Six Flags water parks. Since the park’s rebranding, it’s gone through many exciting updates, including being the very first water park in the world to feature a virtual queue system for its water rides.
While the three other Six Flags water parks go by the name Hurricane Harbor, White Water is the only one of the group to not use the name, but they don’t need it! Their thrilling attractions keep their attendance numbers high enough to be the 12th most-visited water park in North America.
The park’s many amusements include the Bahama Bob Slide, a 600-foot rapid ride in family-sized rafts; the Bermuda Triangle, which plummets you into roaring waves; Dragon’s Tail, featuring 250-foot triple-drop slides; and enough additional slides, pools, restaurants, and shopping options to fill an entire weekend of fun. The Python Plunge, a spiraling six-story water slide, has delayed opening until spring of 2021, but it promises to be one of their most exhilarating experiences yet.
Six Flags White Water is currently open and operating, but they do have specific rules and regulations in place for their guests to abide by, including mandatory reservations. If you and your family want to plan a trip, be sure to visit SixFlags.com/whitewater to brush up on what to expect inside the park and what is expected of guests upon entry.
When it comes to beating the summer heat, there’s nothing quite like a dip in a relaxing pool. Or if you’re the type that would rather take a thrilling ride down a slippery slide, White Water has you covered there too.
